Weblog back online...

When I came home from the Delphi Developer Days 2014 event in Frankfurt, my good-old web server running Windows Server 2003 was making a lot of noise, and started to shut itself off (without the "help" of Windows updates). A few hours later, the server died (after 10+ years of service), and I had to replace it with a new machine running Windows Server 2012 R2 with new versions of IIS, SQL Server, etc.
I then discovered that my weblog was still written using Delphi 2006, ECO and relied on the .NET Framework 1.1, which is no longer part of Windows Server 2012 of course. Oops! Rewriting the weblog software may be an opcoming task, but copying some of the .NET Framework 1.1 assemblies over to the new server machine seems to have fixed the problem for now: my blog is up and running again. Almost 10 years now, so perhaps it's indeed time for a change ;-)

kmorwath 14/06/01 21:47:55Maybe it's also time to redesign and adopt a modern one... whoever opens this site thinks to have traveled back in time to 1998 or something alike... and a new developer who doesn't know who you are looking at what is now a really amateurish and outdated design won't give you much credit - and the "Built with Borland Delphi" tells a lot also.., in many different ways...
Paul 14/06/06 12:07:20Apparently not only your weblog went down when your server died, but also your newsserver. It looks like the newsserver / -service is still down. Regards, Paul
