As an Android developer (using Oxygene for Java for HTC Wildfire and HTC Desire devices - using Android 2.2 and 2,3), I've recently bought a new phone: a Sony Xperia Z. Mainly to play with a more recent Android version 4.2 (and some other tools as well). To my surprise, I was unable to quickly find the "Developer Options" or enable the "USB Debugging" feature (in order to allow the Android Developer Bridge or ADB to communicate with my new phone). For people with a similar Android 4.2 device, here's a trick to enable the Developer Options. First, open Settings, scroll down to the "About Phone" entry, and tap on it. Scroll down to the Build Number (or first tap on the "More..." and again "About", for example if you have a Samsung Galaxy S4). Now... the trick is to tap on the Build Number (which is 10.31.A.0.244 in my case). But don't tap it once, just keep op tapping in no less than seven (7!) times. Each time, you will see a little message "You are now X taps away from becoming a developer", until you finally see the message that Developer mode has been enabled.
From that moment on, a new menu item "Developer Options" will be available with the USB Debugging option, etc.
